Jada Ford and the Sisterhood Project: Building Healing Spaces for Mothers and Daughters

In communities across Indianapolis, Jada Ford is helping mothers and daughters rebuild trust, connection, and joy through an innovative program she created called Sisterhood. The six-session, community-based initiative invites participants to slow down, share meals, and engage in mindful reflection together—offering a pathway toward healing and stronger family relationships.

Each Sisterhood cohort gathers around shared home-based dinners designed to foster belonging and open conversation. Through reflection circles, mindfulness practices, and group activities, mothers and daughters explore the challenges of daily life, practice empathy, and rediscover mutual respect and understanding. The program concludes with a family bonding day that celebrates growth, laughter, and renewed connection.

Sisterhood’s design is both practical and deeply relational. Each family receives a stipend to ease participation barriers, ensuring that no one is excluded due to financial hardship. By integrating elements of mindfulness, self-forgiveness, and joy, the sessions create a welcoming environment where participants can address intergenerational stress, learn new tools for communication, and experience the power of community support.

The need for such programs is significant. Many families—especially those living in lower-income or high-stress environments—face compounded pressures from economic instability, long work hours, and the emotional weight of raising children in challenging circumstances. Mothers often bear the brunt of these demands, leaving little room for rest or reflection. Jada’s program provides a respite and supportive framework where both mothers and daughters can step away from daily pressures and strengthen their relationships in a nurturing, structured setting.

At its heart, Sisterhood is built on the belief that healing begins within families and ripples outward into neighborhoods and communities. The program’s early success has drawn interest from local organizations such as schools, parent-teacher groups, and community centers eager to host future cohorts. Sisterhood has also begun developing a sustainable financial model by offering t-shirts, art, and family-oriented services such as face painting at community events. As it grows, the program plans to partner with local organizations on a fee-based model that provides stipends for families while supporting facilitators and expanding access.

Sisterhood reflects Jada’s lifelong dedication to helping others thrive. Through her work, she combines education, health care, and community service into a holistic approach that uplifts families and fosters emotional well-being. Her vision is not only to help individual participants heal but to create spaces where love, learning, and shared experience become tools for transformation.
